When Becky and Hershel Harber, high school sweethearts, came to Florida, they never could have imagined that it would soon transform into a harrowing ordeal, leaving her never to cross back over the state line to Georgia with her beloved husband, Hershel. After a terrible emergency, they were transferred to Daytona from the Mayo Clinic. Soon after, Florida initiated a 415 order of protection.

(Florida Statute 415 allows for the issuance of an order of protection to prevent interference with the provision of protective services to a vulnerable adult1. The Department of Children and Families can petition the court for such an order if a vulnerable adult is being abused, neglected, or exploited and lacks the capacity to consent to protective services2. A vulnerable adult who has been abused, neglected, or exploited may also have a cause of action against the perpetrator and recover damages)

They followed Becky to Georgia in an attempt to gain guardianship over her husband; Becky soon found herself voiceless and expended their life savings in an effort to secure his return to his rightful place. That never happened. I implore you to witness this heart-wrenching narrative that reveals the devastating impact of corruption, leaving a trail of grief and profound sadness in its wake.
